Group Data in a View

Purpose

This guide outlines how to group data by the values from any column in a View.

Instructions

  1. From the Data view, click the Group By tab. A menu will appear on the right side of the display.
  1. Click on Select Column to open the dropdown menu. Only columns added in the view will be available.
  1. Select the desired column. All data in the first column will be grouped by the values of the selected column. The number of items in each group will be shown in parenthesis to the right of the group name.
  1. All groups in the View can be expanded at one time. In the Group By menu click the Expand All button.
  1. Close all the expanded groups by clicking the Collapse All button in the Group By Menu.
  2. Click the arrow to the left of the group name to expand or collapse a specific group.
  1. Groups of data in the View can be sorted. By default it is set to None. In the Group By menu choose Ascending or Descending. Groups of data will be sorted alphabetically by the chosen order.
  1. Grouped data in the view can be further grouped into subgroups. In the Group By menu, click the Add Group button. A new group will be created. Select the column for further grouping of the data.
  1. Unwanted grouping can be removed. In the Group By menu, hover over the unwanted group and click the Delete icon when it appears.
